on my future. As soon as I hit High School I was in the counselor’s
office asking how I could graduate early, so I could obtain my cosmetology
license. I had a vision in my head of a 1940 theme hair salon, with a “susie homemaker”
type of feel. I received my Cosmetology license through Golden West College in
Huntington Beach, CA. in 2001.
After working in salons for six years I decided to be
involved in education. I was an instructor for Paul Mitchell the School for almost five years. I then reached my goal and opened up “The Vintage Hair Salon”
in June 2011. Since then I have taught in two other private Cosmetology Colleges
and currently substitute at Toni & Guy Academy.
I specialize in ladies’ vintage haircuts, such as the “Middy” (also known as the “Horse Shoe” or “U Shape”) and “Betty Bangs”. I offer a classic 1940/1950 hair style (victory rolls with curls) or a take home classic curling iron set pattern, for you to brush out and play with when you get home.
Don’t be fooled in thinking I only know vintage. I LOVE being a hair stylist and do it all, including todays modern styles. Such as ladies’ haircuts, men’s haircuts, color and dealing with stick straight, thin, thick and curly hair. Having to deal with my curly hair all my life ended up making me a better hair stylist.
I was able to established a successful clientele, because its apparent that I love my profession, getting to know my clients and their needs. I love the cozy, intimate atmosphere my salon offers. My clients have my undivided attention (My cell phone is on silent). I do not double book (unless requested by the client).
It’s so unfortunately rare these days to have uninterrupted face to face conversation. My everyday goal is to make sure my clients know that they are valued, appreciated and respected.
Fun facts, I’m an NRA handgun instructor and a “Life Coach”
specializing and helping understand ones own personality and how that affects our daily communication, outlook and relationships. While working, I am
currently a full-time college student. I hold a CNA and phlebotomy license along with 3 AAT degrees in Psychology, Communications and Sociology. I am completing a 4th in Math & Science. Due to local nursing degree colleges being impacted, I will be attending LBCC in spring 2020 to obtain my LVN (1yr). I will then be able to cross over immediately into the RN program (1yr). My end goal is to become a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP).
